Studio of Dance
The studio of dance incorporates music and movement so that students learn form and technique blended with cultural style and expressions. Instruction includes movement analysis, dance composition and improvisation.
The Studio of Dance instructs in Classical , Modern, Afro and Euro-Centric, Caribbean and Latin American, Tap, Step and Jazz dance forms. Students from this studio have developed a reputation of excellence. They are frequently invited to perform at many local and regional events and most recently performed in the 2005 FedEx Orange Bowl half-time show.
Studio of Music
The Music Studio is two-fold in purpose. One aspect is the Multimedia Studio and the Recording Studio. These are dedicated to the editing and processing of audio and video/television productions and the arrangement of musical projects; the second aspect is providing instruction in the areas of Voice, Wind Instruments, percussion, Keyboard, Electronics, and Audio/Video Engineering.
Studio of Drama
The Drama Studio utilizes the medium of sight, sound and movement to create live theatrical productions, bringing to life historic events and current issues that are of concern to all people. This medium allows controversial issues to be examined and addressed in a non-threatening manner. Classes are offered in the various techniques of choral speech, mime, monologues, puppetry, skits and full scale theatrical productions.
Life Skills Center
The Center provides individualized support to the youth working to build self-esteem and empowering them to achieve their highest potential. This is accomplished through individual counseling, practical training and the Mentoring Program. The Life Skills Center serves as a link to the community by utilizing volunteers from all sectors of the city.
